12 Of The Most Powerful Weapons In The MCU Films

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has had any instalments over its lifetime now with the introduction of hundreds of new characters and storylines forever expanding one of the worlds largest movie universes. And with these many movies being added to the universe, we’ve seen a fair share of powerful and deadly weapons from across the galaxy. So today, we’re counting down some of the most powerful weapons and artefacts we have seen across the Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

12. Captain America’s Shield

We should all know what this star spangled shield is by now. It was the sole defensive and offensive weapon used by the original Captain America, Steve Rogers. The shield is made from a unique combination of a adamantium and vibranium metal alloy which was first given to him back when he first became Captain America in the Second World War. It may 11th on our list but don’t let that take you away from the fact that this shield is made from one of the strongest metals on earth making it indestructible to most other weapons and forces out there and has taken blows from the Hulk, Thor’s hammer and even deflected Wolverine’s adamantium blades without any visible damage on it. Steve has used the shield to send some powerful blows to his enemies and can even bounce back like a boomerang to him after dealing damage.

11. Thanos’ Double Edged Sword

You may be thinking that the sword used by one of the most feared villains in all of the MCU will be top of this list. However, the sword doesn’t have any magical or mystical abilities about it, nevertheless it is far from a regular old sword. Other than being an almighty sword with two huge enormous blades at either end, it also had the capabilities to return to Thanos after being thrown similar to Cap’s shield and also the blade can be spun at great speed making it an even deadlier weapon. Thanos’ sword is ranked higher than Captain America’s shield because it has been the only weapon which has been able to brake the star spangled shield which shows how much strength the sword can deliver.

10. Yondu’s Yaka Arrow

At a first glimpse, this unique, glowing red arrow may not look like much but is actually a much more powerful weapon once mastered. Famously used by Yondu in The Guardians Of The Galaxy, this unique arrow is controlled by the user’s whistle and changes direction depending on the users whistle tone. These arrows are quite scarce as they are made from a rare material known as yaka which can only be found on the Centaurain’s home world. Once a master of the yaka arrow, they can become highly dangerous as they have been known to travel at rapid speeds killing groups of people within seconds without them realising what’s happening.

9. Casket Of A Thousand Winters

The casket of a thousand winters was one of the more powerful artefacts which was held inside Odin’s vault at Asgard before it was destroyed. This chilling box could create a raging snowstorm powerful enough to freeze landscapes and send an entire planet into a ice age. It could also create an icy beam which can freeze individuals in its path making it almost impenetrable to break free. Loki famously used the artefact to be able to disappear into thin air when he used it to freeze Heimdall in ‘Thor’.

8. Chitauri Scepter

The Chitauri Scepter was first used by Loki in Avengers Assemble to command the Chitauri army to invade New York. At its glowing blue core, it held the mind stone, one of the six infinity stones, which gave the Scepter a huge amount of power. The mind stone was able to control the minds of people therefore meaning that whoever Loki touched with the Scepter, he would control what they do. This is why we saw Loki command an entire Chitauri army and even take Hawkeye under his wing during the New York invasion.

7. Black Panther Suit

The chieftain of Wakanda has always gained the right to become the next Black Panther. And unlike most superheroes where they may get their power from their equipment or born with special abilities, the chieftain is given a unique heart shaped herb which grants them the abilities of superhuman senses, enhanced strength, speed, agility, stamina, durability, healing and reflexes. The suit doesn’t make one the Black Panther, the transformation to the legendary superhero happens through this special herb. Although, the suit is a high tech piece of equipment which helps the chieftain greatly throughout their mission as nowadays it has the ability to be worn at any moments notice as it can be stored in their necklace through the teeth (as seen in the picture above) and also absorb any kinetic energy such as bullets or blows to the body and use that energy for a massive, powerful strike.

6. The Ten Rings

Now, the ten rings were first introduced as literal rings worn on each finger in the comics as the Mandarin’s main choice of weapon with each one granting him different abilities. However, this time were going to be focusing on the ten rings we saw for the first time in Marvel’s latest entry into the MCU ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ which are completely different from their comic counterpart. These rings are a straightforward energy weapon and the real Mandarin in the movie uses them to deliver highly powered energy blasts towards his opponents and also as deadly projectiles once thrown. But their capabilities don’t just stop there as they can also grant the user immortality allowing them to stay young forever and also can be used to double up one’s punches to deliver devastating blows.

5. Mjollnir

Next is the weapon in which no one can pronounce. Mjollnir is the weapon given to the god of thunder, Thor. This hammer had to be powerful to be worthy enough to be used by a god. Speaking of being worthy, one attribute placed on the hammer by Odin was that only the ones who are worthy enough can lift Thor’s hammer. Once wielded, the hammer grants the user the ability to fly and superhuman strength. But that’s not all, the abilities of Mjollnir are godlike and can send out striking lighting bolts from it and also control weather itself by sending lighting down on opponents.

4. Hela’s Necroswords

These swords are the weapon of the Goddess of Death and she can summon them at anytime. Meaning that she was the one who was able to destroy Thor’s hammer, you’ve got to be pretty powerful to use these ones. They are made from obsidian and powered with necro-energy and have managed to wipe out an entire Asgard army within minutes as she can send out multiple swords at a time taking down ships and crowds of guards at a time.

3. Surtur’s Twilight Sword

Used by the Fire Giant Surtur, the Twilight sword is a gigantic sword made using the Burning Galaxy and powerful enough to set the universe afire. It can send out blasts of fire from its blade and even destroyed Asgard to fulfil the prophecy known as Ragnarok.

2. Eye Of Agamotto

This magical looking artefact may look cool at first but without the proper training and correct knowledge of it, it could become too dangerous. The green glow from inside the eye safely contains the time stone, one of six infinity stones. In short terms, it’s power can give the user control over time, loop back in time, foresee into the future, ageing of an object plus many other time related abilities basically making the user a god of time.

1. Infinity Gauntlet

Scene from Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

If you don’t know what the Infinity Gauntlet is by now then I don’t know where you’ve been. The Infinity Gauntlet can hold all six infinity stones at once, which are the most powerful objects throughout the universe, and give the holder complete control over them. Once worn, the user can use the time stone, mind stone, reality stone, space stone, power stone and the soul stone and transforms the user into a god. Each stone has different attributes from one another each controlling a different aspect of the universe and you can complete anything you wish once you have them in your possession making you unstoppable. You’ve got to be pretty powerful to even hold one stone so imagine the amount of power and strength you need to withheld all six at once. This is shown when we nearly saw the Hulk/Bruce Banner get killed from using them and of course when Iron Man tragically died once he used them in Avengers: Endgame.
