Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker – MOVIE REVIEW
The final episode in the Skywalker saga. The remaining resistance force battles the First Order one final time as Rey desperately tries to find out who she really is and if the Jedi Order is for her. With the entire galaxy behind them, the resistance battles the First Order however a new breed of enemies are rising up.
Please, if you haven’t seen the movie then we don’t recommend reading as they are a few spoilers ahead.
No matter what anyone says, this has been a perfect and well-written story concluding the famous Skywalker saga we have known for years. From the cinematic start to the film to the dramatic ending, nothing will leave you bored throughout. What I especially want to see from franchise films such as Star Wars is how well the story flows on from the previous films and I’m happy to see that The Rise of Skywalker does this perfectly and flows gracefully from Last Jedi meaning that it doesn’t leave you with unanswered questions at the start.
To make this finale even more rememberable, there are loads of surprises and huge plot twists that awaits you which will definitely give you a wow moment and keep you on the edge of your seat. In my opinion, this doesn’t just make the movie more special but also add a more dramatic atmosphere which for these films is great. The overall ending could not be written better and I guess you could say its the ending we have all been waiting for.
This finale to a great saga has everything that the fans could have wanted like old returning characters, returning enemies, dramatic fight scenes and a huge final battle between good and evil. As you should know by now from the trailers, the Emperor makes his return in a dramatic entrance and shows what he has been up to. This also leads on to introducing a brand new powerful enemy force created by the Emperor known as the Final Order and their fleet is something literally out of this world. Literally. From the Emperor’s new spooky hideout and his evil doings which we are shown at the start.
Speaking of the Emperor, all this time we have been wondering what Rey has to do with all this but finally we are given answers and explore more of Rey’s past including who her parents are and who she really is and how she ties in with what’s been happening. What I especially like about this film is that we are shown more uncharted locations, cultures and meet more interesting people than ever before. Who knew that they were another entire group of people who used to be Stormtroopers for the First Order. New relationships are also shown between Poe Dameron and a new character Zorii Bliss (Keri Russell).
The acting, of course, is brilliant and outstanding for a finale and an actor or actress should be definitely be nominated for an award for their role. The original cast, first shown in The Force Awakens, has also not changed their acting which would have a major impact on how their character is portrayed which is fantastic for movies like Star Wars where they carry on from one another. However, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t any character development throughout the three past movies because they definitely are as each movie we learn more about each character’s past and see how they change as a person.
