Harley Quinn has just split up with the Joker and has now formed an alliance with other infamous DC villains and together they are known as the Birds of Prey. We go on an adventure with them causing terror around Gotham City and take on some of their biggest rivals.

Yes, you have read correctly. Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey finally have their own movie releasing soon next year on the 7th February 2020. The first official trailer just released a couple of days ago and has already caught in interest in viewers with over 5 million views on YouTube. Personally, I think this movie is something exciting to see as we have not been given anything like this before in recent years as we follow the life and perspective of the Joker’s most loyal sidekick instead of her just being a sidelong character with the Joker or the Suicide Squad.

I think DC has made a pretty smart move here as they have timed the release of the official trailer perfectly with the upcoming release of the new Joker film coming this Friday as it will surely increase the hype even more as we have been gifted with two infamous DC characters of all time and two who are usually partners in crime together. With that being said, the release of ‘Birds of Prey’ next year also starts the hype train once again as it builds up for the release of the second instalment of the Suicide Squad the following year coming 6th August 2021.

My first reactions of the trailer are exceeding my expectations are I don’t really have any negatives to say about the film so far which is rare to see in some cases. The new modern era look on the Harley Quinn character makes the movie that bit more exciting as we can already feel the immersion of the film meaning that also the action scenes and other intense moments will give us edge on the seat action. I know this isn’t something that a lot of people may not pick on through the trailer as sometimes I don’t think about it but I have to say that the soundtrack throughout the trailer couldn’t be any better and polishes off the trailer outstandingly. Something which is exciting as well is that the Harley Quinn in the ‘Birds of Prey’ film is played by the same actress who played the Harley Quinn in the first Suicide Squad so it is more than likely going to mean that it is the same character which is relaxing as we are not greeted by another version of the character.

As the main character and the one who is going to have the most screentime is Harley Quinn, this means that we will be seeing more of her jokes and we are going to see a lot of comedy throughout based on the type of character she is. Another thing which is refreshing to see is that the main group of characters we are going to be following in the movie is a more female group including some of DC’s greatest female villains such as Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya with possibly more to be announced. Finally, you properly should already know and may have figured it out but the main setting for the film is going to be Gotham City. The home to all of DC’s famous creations.
